Raising the Roof: Connecting the Generations in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals with a Musical Event

11 June:  In response to requests for follow up to our previous successful concerts: “Youth and Older Persons As City Changers-Connecting the Generations,” and “Raising the Roof” at UN Headquarters and Liverpool, UK, the International Council for Caring Communities (ICCC) is delighted to host another “Raising the Roof” Concert on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 7:00-9:30 pm with a pre-concert reception beginning at 6:00 PM.  This event at the United Nations Delegates Dining Room will be in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and foster the ICCC program: “Imagining the Possible”.

Music has always been an art that can transcend boundaries and bring people together, and as per our tradition, the performers will represent a spectrum of geographic origins, musical styles, and ages. ICCC is honored to welcome Ms. Christine Gong, Co-Founder, Chinese Cultural and Art International Organization as Concert Chair.  The artists will include (among others to be announced): the United Nations Orchestra (which is comprised of musicians from literally across the globe), the New York Eastern Chamber Orchestra (with performances featuring early-period and indigenous Chinese musical instruments); The Children’s Orchestra Society (led by Michael Dadap and Yeou-Cheng Ma); and film actor Keith David, accompanied by our Musical Chair for the evening, Mark Barasch of bMedia NY.

The outstanding endeavors of three international leaders will be recognized on June 11th  with the presentation of the ICCC Awards: “Caring Citizen of the World”; “Caring Citizen of the Humanities”; and our “Public-Private Sector Leadership Award”.  Since its inception, one of ICCC’s unique goals has been to highlight the contributions that private enterprises and individuals have made to the betterment of society. Over 45 renowned world leaders have received ICCC “Caring Citizen” Awards since 1996.
